Drivers Education Courses 

Hawkeye Community College's Adult Driver's Education program offers 6 hours of personalized one-on-one behind-the-wheel instruction, ensuring you receive the attention and guidance you need to become a safe and confident driver. To enroll in the program, students must possess a valid permit and be prepared to pass a driving test administered by the Department of Motor Vehicles prior to receiving their certification. The standard course fee is $415, which covers all instructional materials and the behind-the-wheel instruction. 

However, for sessions conducted at alternate locations such as the UNI Dome or in Cedar Falls, there may be an additional fee to cover instructor hours and fuel costs. Sessions are available on weekends and evenings throughout the week, and driving schedules are tailored to fit each student's individual needs. 

For those pursuing a CDL A license, they offer classes Monday through Friday, with multiple time slots available from 8 AM to 9 PM. The CDL A program is designed to be completed in up to 6 weeks, depending on individual proficiency. Once you've mastered all necessary tasks and techniques, you'll be eligible to take the test for certification.
