Explore campus, engage in activities, and excel towards success as a new international student during your first semester. Led by current students, called GPS Coordinators, you and your team can earn points for attending social and cultural events and activities, such as the GPS Retreat, GPS Field Trip, and GPS Day of Service. At our final event, we celebrate semester achievements, recognize group points, and give away prizes!
Free coffee, tea, and refreshments every Thursday at 3 p.m. in 113 Maucker Union! Our goal is to bring people together, share event information, and spread awareness of the international community on campus. Everyone is welcome, so stop by anytime from 3 to 4 p.m. to get some treats and socialize with us weekly!
This program matches UNI international students with families in the local area. This non-residential program encourages students and families to spend time together and share culture through food and friendship. All international students and families are encouraged to apply!
In mid-November, we dedicate a full week to celebrate international education across campus. Anyone interested in sharing their own culture or learning about cultures different from their own is encouraged to participate in one or more of our exciting activities and events around campus.
In collaboration with Student Life, we bring an opportunity for students to share their culture and traditional recipes with the campus community by sharing international food samples.
We collaborate with the Wellness and Recreation Center to open wellness classes and facilities to Muslim women. During these activities, the staff is all female and public windows are covered. All women (and children) are welcome. The goal is to create a safe space for women from all cultural backgrounds.
At the end of every term, we host a reception to celebrate the achievements with other departing international students. Whether you are graduating or just finishing your program, we recognize your time spent at UNI. Invite your family members, friends, faculty, and staff to come celebrate with us!
